Yele Donations: Mobile giving to help Haiti exceeds $7 million

Many people want to donate but they are unable to decide how because there are so many appeals flying around print media, electronic media and Internet. Yele has most prominent appeals on Twitter and you can donate Yele through mobile text message. You just have to write “YELE” and send it to 501501 for a donation of $5. This service is only for US mobiles. The residents of other countries should give their donations to the most established organizations of their country.
Another simple solution is to donate the Disaster Emergency Committee who is raising funds on behalf of 13 UK based charity organizations including ActionAid, Help the Aged, Islamic Relief, Oxfam, Save the Children, British Red Cross, Care International UK, Christian Aid, Concern Worldwide and World Vision. United Nations World Food Program is the leading agency that is providing food assistance in Haiti. Their workers are transporting food and other supplies in far away areas. They are solving telecommunication problems and the estimated cost of their operation is $246million for next six months.
