Titans RB Chris Johnson might not be the NFL MVP this year, but he will undoubtedly be its Offensive Player of the Year. Johnson ripped off 134 yards on the ground against the Seahawks to pass the 2,000-yard rushing mark for the season. He joins Jamal Lewis, Terrell Davis, Barry Sanders, Eric Dickerson and O.J. Simpson in the elite 2,000-yard club. He finished with 134 yards on the day, pushing his season total to 2,006.
Johnson also eclipsed Marshall Faulk’s total yards from scrimmage mark for a single season, giving him the NFL record for most yards from scrimmage in a season. He also passed Earl Campbell’s single-season franchise rushing record of 1,934 yards.
In just his second year, it’s clear that Chris Johnson, barring injury, is on his way to becoming one of the most dynamic running backs in NFL history. He might even have surpassed Adrian Peterson as the preferred No. 1 pick of fantasy owners everywhere. Overall it was a historic day for Johnson, and one which bodes well for both his future and the future of the Titans.
